SUBMISSION WRESTLING

Submission Wrestling — Grappling Without The Gi

Curious about submission wrestling? Our program teaches no-gi grappling — the same core skills as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (control, positioning, submissions) but without a gi to grip, closer to folkstyle and freestyle wrestling with a submission layer on top. It's also the wrestling foundation behind our MMA program.

Authentic lineage. Black-belt instruction.

Who this is for: wrestlers looking to add a submission element to their game, BJJ students who want to cross-train no-gi, women specifically looking for a respectful, structured class environment, and anyone training toward MMA who needs a real wrestling base.

NO GI, NO PROBLEM

What Is Submission Wrestling?

In short: it's grappling where the goal is a tap-out through a joint lock or choke, rather than a pin or points like traditional wrestling. It draws from both wrestling and BJJ, which is why students often ask about submission wrestling vs. BJJ — the biggest difference is simply no gi, which changes grips, pace, and takedown entries.

Faster pace, fewer grips

Without a gi to control, positions move faster and reward athleticism and timing over grip strength.

Wrestling-first takedowns

You'll drill real takedowns and top control, so you're not just starting every round on your knees.

“I was fortunate to start my Jiu-Jitsu journey under Coach Brett Linebarger two years ago in Philadelphia. He is a phenomenal trainer and, off the mats, an even better person and friend. Daniel Gracie Delco is sure to become a community staple and a future hub of champions. I cannot recommend it enough.”

“I’ve trained BJJ for over five years and visited dozens of gyms across the country. Professor Brett teaches some of the best fundamental classes I’ve ever taken. He shows important details that some instructors gloss over and explains the concepts behind the success or failure of a technique. I highly recommend taking one of Brett’s classes.”

“This is my first experience training in BJJ. I’m 45 and wanted to do something to stay in shape, but it turned out to be so much more than I expected. The instruction is exceptional, the workout is great, and there’s always a positive, family-oriented vibe. I definitely recommend Daniel Gracie Delco.”

“Professor Bret is doing a great job creating an environment where all students feel welcome and part of the community. I’ve trained at many gyms, and he is one of the best instructors at breaking complicated techniques into small, understandable steps. On top of that, he is a great, humble, and passionate human being!”
